Al-Ghaashiya

هَلْ أَتَىٰكَ حَدِيثُ ٱلْغَـٰشِيَةِ

Transliteration: Hal ataka hadeethu alghashiyati

Has there reached you the report of the Overwhelming [event]

وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ خَـٰشِعَةٌ

Transliteration: Wujoohun yawmaithin khashiAAatun

[Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled

عَامِلَةٌ نَّاصِبَةٌ

Transliteration: AAamilatun nasibatun

Working [hard] and exhausted

تَصْلَىٰ نَارًا حَامِيَةً

Transliteration: Tasla naran hamiyatan

They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire

تُسْقَىٰ مِنْ عَيْنٍ ءَانِيَةٍ

Transliteration: Tusqa min AAaynin aniyatin

They will be given drink from a boiling spring

لَّيْسَ لَهُمْ طَعَامٌ إِلَّا مِن ضَرِيعٍ

Transliteration: Laysa lahum taAAamun illa min dareeAAin

For them there will be no food except from a poisonous, thorny plant

لَّا يُسْمِنُ وَلَا يُغْنِى مِن جُوعٍ

Transliteration: La yusminu wala yughnee min jooAAin

Which neither nourishes nor avails against hunger

وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ نَّاعِمَةٌ

Transliteration: Wujoohun yawmaithin naAAimatun

[Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure

لِّسَعْيِهَا رَاضِيَةٌ

Transliteration: LisaAAyiha radiyatun

With their effort [they are] satisfied

فِى جَنَّةٍ عَالِيَةٍ

Transliteration: Fee jannatin AAaliyatin

In an elevated garden

لَّا تَسْمَعُ فِيهَا لَـٰغِيَةً

Transliteration: La tasmaAAu feeha laghiyatan

Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech

فِيهَا عَيْنٌ جَارِيَةٌ

Transliteration: Feeha AAaynun jariyatun

Within it is a flowing spring

فِيهَا سُرُرٌ مَّرْفُوعَةٌ

Transliteration: Feeha sururun marfooAAatun

Within it are couches raised high

وَأَكْوَابٌ مَّوْضُوعَةٌ

Transliteration: Waakwabun mawdooAAatun

And cups put in place

وَنَمَارِقُ مَصْفُوفَةٌ

Transliteration: Wanamariqu masfoofatun

And cushions lined up

وَزَرَابِىُّ مَبْثُوثَةٌ

Transliteration: Wazarabiyyu mabthoothatun

And carpets spread around

أَفَلَا يَنظُرُونَ إِلَى ٱلْإِبِلِ كَيْفَ خُلِقَتْ

Transliteration: Afala yanthuroona ila alibili kayfa khuliqat

Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created

وَإِلَى ٱلسَّمَآءِ كَيْفَ رُفِعَتْ

Transliteration: Waila alssamai kayfa rufiAAat

And at the sky - how it is raised

وَإِلَى ٱلْجِبَالِ كَيْفَ نُصِبَتْ

Transliteration: Waila aljibali kayfa nusibat

And at the mountains - how they are erected

وَإِلَى ٱلْأَرْضِ كَيْفَ سُطِحَتْ

Transliteration: Waila alardi kayfa sutihat

And at the earth - how it is spread out

فَذَكِّرْ إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مُذَكِّرٌ

Transliteration: Fathakkir innama anta muthakkirun

So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder

لَّسْتَ عَلَيْهِم بِمُصَيْطِرٍ

Transliteration: Lasta AAalayhim bimusaytirin

You are not over them a controller

إِلَّا مَن تَوَلَّىٰ وَكَفَرَ

Transliteration: Illa man tawalla wakafara

However, he who turns away and disbelieves

فَيُعَذِّبُهُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْعَذَابَ ٱلْأَكْبَرَ

Transliteration: FayuAAaththibuhu Allahu alAAathaba alakbara

Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment

إِنَّ إِلَيْنَآ إِيَابَهُمْ

Transliteration: Inna ilayna iyabahum

Indeed, to Us is their return

ثُمَّ إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا حِسَابَهُم

Transliteration: Thumma inna AAalayna hisabahum

Then indeed, upon Us is their account
