Al-Lail

وَٱلَّيْلِ إِذَا يَغْشَىٰ

Transliteration: Waallayli itha yaghsha

By the night when it covers

وَٱلنَّهَارِ إِذَا تَجَلَّىٰ

Transliteration: Waalnnahari itha tajalla

And [by] the day when it appears

وَمَا خَلَقَ ٱلذَّكَرَ وَٱلْأُنثَىٰٓ

Transliteration: Wama khalaqa alththakara waalontha

And [by] He who created the male and female

إِنَّ سَعْيَكُمْ لَشَتَّىٰ

Transliteration: Inna saAAyakum lashatta

Indeed, your efforts are diverse

فَأَمَّا مَنْ أَعْطَىٰ وَٱتَّقَىٰ

Transliteration: Faamma man aAAta waittaqa

As for he who gives and fears Allah

وَصَدَّقَ بِٱلْحُسْنَىٰ

Transliteration: Wasaddaqa bialhusna

And believes in the best [reward]

فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُۥ لِلْيُسْرَىٰ

Transliteration: Fasanuyassiruhu lilyusra

We will ease him toward ease

وَأَمَّا مَنۢ بَخِلَ وَٱسْتَغْنَىٰ

Transliteration: Waamma man bakhila waistaghna

But as for he who withholds and considers himself free of need

وَكَذَّبَ بِٱلْحُسْنَىٰ

Transliteration: Wakaththaba bialhusna

And denies the best [reward]

فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُۥ لِلْعُسْرَىٰ

Transliteration: Fasanuyassiruhu lilAAusra

We will ease him toward difficulty

وَمَا يُغْنِى عَنْهُ مَالُهُۥٓ إِذَا تَرَدَّىٰٓ

Transliteration: Wama yughnee AAanhu maluhu itha taradda

And what will his wealth avail him when he falls

إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا لَلْهُدَىٰ

Transliteration: Inna AAalayna lalhuda

Indeed, [incumbent] upon Us is guidance

وَإِنَّ لَنَا لَلْـَٔاخِرَةَ وَٱلْأُولَىٰ

Transliteration: Wainna lana lalakhirata waaloola

And indeed, to Us belongs the Hereafter and the first [life]

فَأَنذَرْتُكُمْ نَارًا تَلَظَّىٰ

Transliteration: Faanthartukum naran talaththa

So I have warned you of a Fire which is blazing

لَا يَصْلَىٰهَآ إِلَّا ٱلْأَشْقَى

Transliteration: La yaslaha illa alashqa

None will [enter to] burn therein except the most wretched one

ٱلَّذِى كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ

Transliteration: Allathee kaththaba watawalla

Who had denied and turned away

وَسَيُجَنَّبُهَا ٱلْأَتْقَى

Transliteration: Wasayujannabuha alatqa

But the righteous one will avoid it

ٱلَّذِى يُؤْتِى مَالَهُۥ يَتَزَكَّىٰ

Transliteration: Allathee yutee malahu yatazakka

[He] who gives [from] his wealth to purify himself

وَمَا لِأَحَدٍ عِندَهُۥ مِن نِّعْمَةٍ تُجْزَىٰٓ

Transliteration: Wama liahadin AAindahu min niAAmatin tujza

And not [giving] for anyone who has [done him] a favor to be rewarded

إِلَّا ٱبْتِغَآءَ وَجْهِ رَبِّهِ ٱلْأَعْلَىٰ

Transliteration: Illa ibtighaa wajhi rabbihi alaAAla

But only seeking the countenance of his Lord, Most High

وَلَسَوْفَ يَرْضَىٰ

Transliteration: Walasawfa yarda

And he is going to be satisfied
